On Saturday, October 1, 2011, The H&K Group, a family of integrated companies serving the contracting and construction industries with its corporate headquarters in Skippack, PA, held its 5th Annual Charity Golf Outing. This annual event brings together H&K Group employees, as well as friends, family, valued vendors, customers and clients, for a fun day of golf and camaraderie. While the day’s festivities are enjoyed by all, it is the spirit of charity, with all money raised donated directly to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), which drives this event. This year’s outing was a resounding success, with an incredible response filling up all the available golfing slots weeks in advance. Many long-time H&K Group business partners, as well as new ones, also contributed, providing strong sponsorship support.
Each year, a charitable organization is selected to be the benefactor of the event. Due to the proximity of CHOP, and most importantly the value and services it has and will provide to many children within the H&K Group family, it was only fitting to select CHOP as the recipient this year. CHOP Representative, Matthew DiBattista, was present at the event and addressed the crowd before the shotgun start. He was overwhelmed by the turnout and extremely grateful for selecting CHOP as the beneficiary. Matthew also gave an overview of the services that CHOP provides, discussed new and exciting changes and advances within the hospital, as well as the importance of giving to the hospital.
The outing also celebrated its return to Lederach Golf Club in Lederach, PA, after previously being held elsewhere, and the course did not disappoint. Despite record setting rainfall throughout the region in the weeks leading up to the event, the course was presented in excellent condition. Participants were in high-spirits, enjoying hot dogs donated by Hatfield Quality Meats, potato salad from Don’s Salad and homemade chili prepared by H&K Group employee, Steve Wagner.
Thanks to the tremendous generosity of the employees and their friends and family who came out to golf, as well as our loyal vendors and customers who sponsored us, we were extremely fortunate to raise $10,000 for CHOP.
