History / Mission & ValuesHistory / Mission & Values Site Contracting Excavating Services Crushed Stone Sand Gravel Road Highway Paving

The story of The H&K Group Family of Companies is one rich in tradition.  Everything that we have become today can be traced back to our founding company; Haines & Kibblehouse, Inc.

The roots of Haines & Kibblehouse date back into the 1950’s, when John B. Haines, IV started a small self-titled excavating company based in Worcester, PA.  John’s Pride, Perseverance, Honesty and Dedication was evident in his work, and led his small business to prosperity.  As the business progressed, John’s childhood friend, Jack Kibblehouse, joined the company in 1964.  In 1968, John and Jack, together with Harry Budenz and Lee Detwiler, created Haines & Kibblehouse, Inc.

In 1970 they moved their operations to a 7-acre site in Skippack, Pennsylvania, which is the current home of the company.  In 1973, Haines & Kibblehouse, Inc. acquired its first quarry, H&K Materials, in Hilltown, Pennsylvania.  The benefit of owning a construction materials facility was immediately evident.  They were able to better serve their clients and offer them more services, all while controlling their supply chain.  This philosophy of diversifying and integrating our products and services to better serve our clients has been present ever since.

Over the coming years, the number of companies grew, and H&K continued to add new products and services.  Soon after their first quarries were purchased, asphalt and concrete plants were built to provide material for not only our own contracting divisions, but outside companies as well.

Our construction materials businesses have not been the only sector of the company that has seen growth: our contracting divisions multiplied as well, offering new site contracting services, such as demolition, paving, segmental retaining walls and construction drilling.  We take a “turn-key” approach to site contracting.  Our contracting divisions are capable of handling projects of any magnitude, from initial groundbreaking through final site applications.

Most recently in 2002, The H&K Group Family of Companies entered the landscape materials industry, starting with natural stone products, topsoil and mulch; then moving into the manufactured paving stones industry in 2005.

Today, The H&K Group is one of the largest contracting and construction materials companies in the Mid-Atlantic region with over 70 companies.  Our key to success has been never straying from the principles of Pride, Perseverance, Honesty, Dedication and Diversified Strength laid out by our founders.  Still family-owned and operated we are poised for the 2nd and 3rd generation ownership to assume operational management and lead us into the future; a future that is filled with endless possibilities for both us and our clients.

Mission & Values
The H&K Group’s mission is to build a strong, sustainable and diversified company. We will achieve this goal by becoming a regional leader in the construction industry. We will foster a company culture that is based upon compassion and mutual respect for our employees, customers, vendors and the environment.
