Surface Mining and Construction Materials Support

Mining of natural resources is essential to the development and continued maintenance of our nation’s infrastructure, housing sector, cities and communities, commercial and industrial facilities, and countless amenities that are essential to daily life.  At The H&K Group, we are committed to producing aggregates and construction materials to meet the growing demands of our region and beyond, in the most environmentally responsible manner possible.

We realize as a construction materials producer that our earth’s resources are both limited, and a gift that was provided to us to be used wisely.  All of our mining operations and materials facilities operate under state approved permits as issued by the participating state or commonwealth agencies.  Whether it be an H&K Group quarry facility, asphalt plant, ready-mix concrete plant, or rail load-out facility, we are committed as an environmental steward to operate these facilities under the environmental rules and regulations dictated by both the state and federal governments.

The H&K Group achieves this end though employment and staffing of highly trained engineers, geologists and scientists who are skilled in the environmental sciences.  These professionals are based at the company’s corporate offices in Skippack, Pennsylvania and operate within the corporations Engineering & Environmental Services Division.  Engineers, geologists, biologists and scientists canvas each of our materials facilities to ensure environmental compliance.  From general permitting, to insurance that air, surface water, and groundwater compliance is achieved and maintained at every H&K Group surface mine or materials facility, our skilled Engineering & Environmental Service Division staff is dedicated to upholding the environmental stewardship ideals and traditions of The H&K Group.

Site Contracting and Construction Support - E&S Control Plan Compliance

In today’s competitive site development and construction marketplace, maintaining the critical balance between responsible urban development and protection of the waterways and natural resources affected by this development is vital to the success of both the developer and the contractor.  The H&K Group, again, maintains the distinction of staffing highly trained engineers and scientists who are dedicated to ensuring that environmental compliance is achieved on every construction or development site on which we are permitted to operate.

Also housed within The H&K Group’s Engineering & Environmental Service Division offices at the corporate location, skilled professionals are on staff to ensure that environmental best management practices (BMP’s) are maintained at every construction site.  Experts are staffed to inspect, monitor and maintain erosion and sedimentation controls that are required to be installed on all of our site development or construction job sites.  Again, if you see an H&K Group contracting company’s sign on a construction site, you can be assured that all applicable environmental standards are met.
